Deadlines

Make sure you're registered to vote by October 5th. If you miss this deadline, register by November 2nd so you can participate in any runoff elections.

Submit your application for an absentee ballot either by mail by October 27th (earlier if you can! We recommend at least two weeks before Election Day), or in person by the office's closing time on October 30th. For mail and in-person drop off, you can find the address for your county clerk here.

After you complete your ballot, put it in the mail by October 27th to give it a good shot of being received by the County Clerk by 7:30pm on Election Day. OR deliver it in person to your County Clerk's office by closing time on October 30th — that's the Friday BEFORE Election Day. DO NOT take it to your polling place on Election Day, unless you want them to destroy it so you can vote regularly.

Exceptions for medical emergencies: if you're hospitalized, you can have an Authorized Agent pick up a ballot for you up until 1:30pm on Election Day. Call your County Clerk's office if you need to use this option — they'll give you all the details.

Heads up that Arkansas has runoff elections on December 1st for any races where no candidate gets over 50% of the vote! Keep an eye on local news after Election Day to find out if you have any runoff elections to vote in. Deadlines are:

  • Register by November 2
  • Request your ballot by November 24 by mail or November 27 in person
  • Drop off your ballot by November 27, or mail it by November 24/ASAP
  • Election Day is December 1

FYI: Changes at the Post Office

This is important: USPS recently changed its policies and won’t always postmark mail the same day it’s picked up from a mailbox — or even the day after. To guarantee a same-day postmark, you’ll need to go to a post office and ask for a manual postmark. All the more reason to mail things early!

Instructions

Sign the voter statement on your ballot. Your signature should be the same one you used to register to vote.

Put your ballot in the return envelope provided.

Put a copy of your photo ID in the envelope too.

Put enough postage on it!

After you complete your ballot, put it in the mail by October 27th to give it a good shot of being received by the County Clerk by 7:30pm on Election Day. OR deliver it in person to your County Clerk's office by closing time on October 30th - that's the Friday BEFORE Election Day. DO NOT take it to your polling place on Election Day, unless you want them to destroy it so you can vote regularly.

If you need to have someone else drop your ballot off for you they need to be a family member, household member, or caregiver.
