Deadlines

Register to vote by October 13th.

Your request for an absentee ballot must be RECEIVED by November 2nd — but don’t wait that long! We recommend applying at least two weeks before Election Day if you can.

If you’re hospitalized, are unable to go to a polling place for health reasons, or live in a nursing home/assisted living facility, group home, or women's shelter, you may qualify for Agent Delivery.

Ballots must be received by Election Day — so you should put it in the mail by October 27th to be sure it arrives in time to be counted.

FYI: Changes at the Post Office

This is important: USPS recently changed its policies and won’t always postmark mail the same day it’s picked up from a mailbox — or even the day after. To guarantee a same-day postmark, you’ll need to go to a post office and ask for a manual postmark. All the more reason to mail things early!

Instructions

Put your ballot in the tan security envelope and seal it.

Put the tan envelope in the white signature envelope and seal that.

Sign and date the signature envelope where indicated. Your signature should match the one you registered with. Also write your address and ID number on the white envelope.

You will need a witness when you complete your ballot. The witness can be either an adult U.S. citizen or a notary. Your witness must sign the signature envelope and list their address.

Put the signed and sealed signature envelope in the return envelope provided.

If you’re going to mail it, put a stamp on it. Then be sure to put it in the mail as early as you possibly can — it must be received by Election Day! We recommend no later than October 27th.

Or if you’re dropping it off with your local election office or a dropbox, drop it by 5pm on Election Day at the latest!

Someone can drop off your ballot for you as long as they aren’t doing that same favor for more than three other people. They’ll also need to show ID and sign at the election office.

DO NOT take your ballot to your polling place on Election Day, unless you want to destroy it and then submit an in-person provisional ballot.
