Deadlines
Register to vote by October 19th.
Return your absentee ballot request to your county clerk by November 2nd — but earlier is better! The Secretary of State’s office says that mailing can take 7 days or longer. We recommend applying at least two weeks before Election Day.
Your ballot must be received by the county clerk by 7pm on Election Day. You can drop it off there directly. Or if you’re mailing it, be sure to pop it in the mail by October 27th to give it enough time to arrive.
FYI: Changes at the Post Office
This is important: USPS recently changed its policies and won’t always postmark mail the same day it’s picked up from a mailbox — or even the day after. To guarantee a same-day postmark, you’ll need to go to a post office and ask for a manual postmark. All the more reason to mail things early!
Instructions
Put your ballot in the return envelope provided and seal it up.
Sign the outside of the envelope where indicated.
Hand deliver your ballot to your county clerk’s office before 7pm on Election Day
If you’re mailing your ballot, put a stamp on it and pop it in the mail by October 27th.
You can have someone drop your ballot off for you.
